internal GOTEK
introduction
We’ve seen quite a few Amiga 500/600/1200 internal FDD deaths lately.
If you are lucky, you can get a working piece in Hungary. But of course at a stiff price even on eBay.
Alternatively, a PC internal FDD is good enough if we can get a 3D printed release button. We don’t even mention the carving of the housing.
A more modern solution for playing floppy image files is GOTEK.
Recently, we prefer this internally designed model to replace the old FDDs.
Of course, GOTEK in an external FDD housing is nicer, because that way the possibility of FDD remains. Unfortunately, booting from an external FDD with 1.3 KS is a bit tricky.
We buy the internal GOTEK for our customers here:
amigastore.eu
The aesthetic appearance of the two small LEDs on top is a bit tricky, but the device works well and you don’t have to carve anything. The latter is not a negligible consideration.
The last picture shows a GOTEK in a carved housing, we put this picture here just for determent. Do not carve Amiga housing! If someone still feels the urge to do so, do it, but do it as nicely as you can.
