LumaFix64
introduction
Our Commodore 64 computer also has Composite and S-Video signals, so if possible, strive for the best image quality we can achieve with S-Video signals.
On modern LCD/LED TVs, the image is displayed with vertical stripes. This was intended to be corrected by the LumaFix64 modification.
We recommend this to those who don’t want different external converters, drills – carvings/holes on the machine (which by the way, we are also against).
Since this modification only needs to be placed between the VIC-II ICs, placing it really shouldn’t be a problem for anyone. On the other hand, special attention should be paid to the fact that the legs of the panel are very thin and bend easily. In an unfortunate case, they can even break.
If it needs to be removed, it should only be done with careful movements.
However, there is a disadvantage, the set picture quality may be different on each LCD/LED TV, so it may need to be reset on another TV. True, if someone is using it on a projector, this can be a very good solution.
Another small but important thought: the ~300R resistor must be removed from the connection of the S-Video cable. It doesn’t make much sense anymore.
For a „thin” sheet, it has been tested with this VIC-II IC:
MOS 8565R2
For a „normal” sheet, with these:
MOS 6569R3
MOS 6569R5
